Guardian of India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. The BSF man stands where the nation's sovereignty ends and the unknown begins - in rain, heat, cold, and silence.

1971 War - played frontline combat role. Anti-infiltration operations in Punjab during militancy years. Kashmir valley counter-insurgency. Flood relief and disaster response across borders.

ITBP
Established 1962 - Strength: 90,000+
Guardians of the Himalayan frontier. ITBP patrols 3,488 km of Indo-China border at altitudes between 9,000 and 18,700 feet - among the toughest postings on earth.
Major Operations
Continuous border patrolling on the LAC. Galwan Valley support operations, June 2020. Uttarakhand flood and disaster relief. Security at sensitive installations and nuclear sites.

Protectors of India's critical infrastructure - airports, ports, metro systems, nuclear installations, and government buildings. The silent shield no one notices until the moment it matters most.
Major Operations
Security response during 26/11 at CSIA Mumbai. Protection of all Indian airports and nuclear facilities. Counter-threat operations at Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan complex.

SSB

Guardians of India's borders with Nepal and Bhutan. SSB is also the lead intelligence agency along its sectors and plays a crucial role in preventing cross-border crime and insurgency.

Counter-trafficking and anti-smuggling operations on Nepal and Bhutan borders. Internal security deployments in Northeast India. Anti-Naxal grid support in border districts.

Established 1835 - Strength: 65,000+
India's oldest paramilitary force and the first to guard the Northeast. Called the "Sentinels of the Northeast" and "Friends of the Hill People" - Assam Rifles has fought in every major conflict since 1835.
Major Operations
Both World Wars under British India. 1962 Sino-Indian War. Counter-insurgency in Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram for decades. Myanmar border operations against insurgents.

Over 1,000 Martyrs - oldest battle honours in India
They have fought in jungles, mountains, and river valleys for 190 years. Before India was India, they were already holding the line in the Northeast. There is no force older in service to this land.

NSG
Established 1984 - Strength: 7,500+
India's elite counter-terrorism force. The Black Cats are deployed only in the most extreme situations - hostage rescue, VVIP protection during threats, and neutralising armed terror attacks on Indian soil.
Major Operations
Operation Black Thunder - Golden Temple, 1988. Mumbai 26/11 attacks - Hotel Taj, Trident, Nariman House. Numerous aircraft hijack rescues. Counter-terror operations in Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad.

When every other option fails and the nation is in danger, the NSG goes in. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan ran toward the sound of gunfire in the Taj and told his men: "Don't come up - I'll handle them." He did. He gave everything.

Mumbai ATS Chief Hemant Karkare - killed facing terrorists on 26/11. Inspector Vijay Salaskar, Ashok Kamte - same night, same sacrifice. Tukaram Omble - stopped Kasab with his bare hands, took bullets to ensure his capture. Thousands of police martyrs across India since Independence.

Tukaram Omble grabbed Kasab's AK-47 barrel with his hands and took the full burst to ensure India caught its first live terrorist. He died. India got justice. We must never forget this man's name.
